My Recent Empties

My skin has been one of my biggest insecurities for almost as long as I can remember. Over the past couple years I have finally been able to kick the acne and achieve clear skin. I know how frustrating it can feel especially when you want people to take you seriously as a corporate girly when your face is breaking out like you are 15. However, I finally have enough of a handle on my skin that I can confidently bring you my top 10 clear skin tips.

1. stay away from alcohol

I have found one of my biggest acne triggers is alcohol. This would make sense why my skin sucked in college lol. Drinking isn’t great for you, everyone knows this. Just keep this in mind if you are drinking wine every night and can’t seem to clear up your skin.

2. take these pills (for hormonal acne)

I think these make a HUGE difference around my period when I am prone to some hormonal volcanoes.

3. drink water and eat whole foods

Water and clean eating is the anti-alcohol for your skin. Think about it this way, you don’t want to put things into your body that your body wants to get out rather than use for fuel & optimal function.

4. pay attention to your triggers

Some people may be triggered by certain skincare, makeup, laundry detergent, food, your bf’s stubble (this is funny but real), etc. Pay attention to your triggers so you can make a plan on eliminated them.

5. swap your pillow case

Your pillow case gets gross. Just swap it more than you think you need to. I love these for when I travel!

6. zit stickers

These have been such a game changer for someone like me who can’t help but try pop every zit. That basically will reduce or eliminate the size of a zit overnight and don’t allow for picking. I like these best.

7. face mask

For the days where I have a flair up, aka after drinking margs, I like to use this to absorb some of gunk my skin is trying to get out of my body before it gets worse.

8. don’t touch your face

They all say this, and I know its insanely hard, but don’t touch! I find wearing makeup and zit stickers keep the fingers away.

9. don’t workout with makeup on

There is no reason to workout with makeup on, you are just asking for more skin trouble. If you are in the thick of your breakouts, trust me I’ve been there, and can’t bare the thought of people seeing your acne, just spot conceal before going to the gym.

10. wash face after sweating

Even if you are not wearing makeup to the gym, the sweat and grime from a good workout can clog pores. I find that one of my biggest reasons for breakouts for me recently is when I decide to run a bunch of errands after the gym and don’t shower right after.
